A Poem: Dedication to Newtown,Connecticut

Dedication to Newtown
I dedicate this poem to all in the city ofNew Town
A moment of silence, do not make a sound
These words are truly meant to inspire
To lift each person up and take them higher
A tragedy has happened that we cannot describe
Healing will take an extended time and the pain may never subside
So many lives affected, family and friends have suffered a loss
Many lives were taken, such a great cost
All done by one person with an evil heart
To describe the sadness I do not know where to start
What we can do is remember those who are gone
Never to forget that their memory will go on
Each child and adult with God and Jesus in Heaven above
We can shed our tears and express our love
Open your heart and share from deep within
Each person in New Town will receive what you send
Sending our prayers to whole city and each family
Nothing is needed more now than compassion and unity
We lift up those who are down
A kind word, a hug, even hand on a shoulder can be profound
We can do a simple gesture even though we cannot all be there
Light a candle in remembrance to show your love and that you care

A Fantasy Football Revelation
By · CommentsThe Fantasy Football season is in full effect and everyone is playing. If you are not familiar with fantasy football, you pick real life NFL Football Players and those players make up your team. You then get points depending how your team of players performs in real life. The fun comes in when you put your team against another team each week and see who can put up the most points in any given week. A great deal of players perform well every week and other players are considered duds. You are picking a team hoping that it pans out in the end so that you can win. Here is the thing about Fantasy Football, it requires a good amount of luck.
Now let’s flip this and think about a spiritual lesson. God picked us out before we are even born. God considers each one of us a star and not a dud. With God there is no hoping, He knows that each person is special and can accomplish the amazing. God never worries about if someone has the ability to perform what He asks us to do. God knows the ability is there. It is truly amazing that God has such faith in each one of us. So the question we really need to ask ourselves is why do we find it so hard to have faith in God?
The Reason for the Season
By · CommentsTo say that the Holidays have become commercialized is a true understatement. We have gone from knowing the true meaning of Christmas to only knowing what we see on television. It is truly amazing when you ask someone what Christmas means to them how people will mention Santa, presents, time with family as the main reasons they love the holiday. I do not dispute these are good reasons to be excited for the holiday season.
Is this the real reason for Christmas?
However, we often forget the real reason not only for Christmas but also the main reason to give thanks every day. The reason we are able to live a blessed life is because of what Jesus accomplished on the Cross and this is the time of year that we celebrate His Birth. We may be busy preparing for the celebration but we need to remember why we are preparing for the most glorious celebration of the year. We cannot forget why people are so much more loving at this time of year. In addition, many people hold each cent they own in a steel grip, never giving to anyone but are generous at this time of year. The reason for this wonderful holiday and its celebration is Jesus. If we forget that Jesus is the reason for the season, the celebration loses all meaning. Why celebrate Christmas without main part of the word? Isn’t Christmas without Christ just another day?

The True Reason for the Season!
The point of all this is to say be careful to keep your thoughts on Jesus, God and his Word not only at this time of year but all day, every day. When celebrating we need to give thanks to Jesus, He made it all possible. Have a very blessed Holiday; enjoy your time with family and Merry Christmas to one and all!

Poem: Beautiful and Lovely God
By · CommentsPraise God For He is good!
Worship God because there is none like Him!
Beautiful and Lovely God
We never need to doubt
Only need to shout
Rejoice in His Holy Name
God never changes He is always the same.
From the beginning to the end
God is our Father, Comforter, Lord and Friend
Nothing compares to the only one true and living God
God is wonderful in always, God is good
God may move in mysterious ways
But we know God has created and blessed each one of our days
God’s Light can dissipate any darkness and guide us down the blessed path
God is a God of love and never one of anger and wrath.
A million words is only the beginning of our expression to our Lord
And each time we speak God’s Word it is the most beautiful sound ever heard
The love deep down in our heart is shown in our worship for Him
God illuminates each life with his glorious presence which is never dim
We often think God is done when He is not even close to being through
The privilege is ours to give God honor in everything we do
God has given us everything and on His Word we can stand
Our desires are nothing compared to God’s awesome plan
The best move we can make is one where God leads
When we follow God we are guaranteed to succeed
We lift up our King the highest place
Only desiring ever more to share our love and see His face
We die a little more each day, giving up ourselves
We live for God and no else
Praises to the King, Praises to the Father
Praises to the Alpha and the Omega
Praises to His Son and the Holy Ghost
Praises to the One and Only
None is above
None is greater
Our lovely and beautiful God
This is a video blog about God’s Word being the Final Word above all else. This means no matter what your situation or circumstance may look like on the surface, God’s Word is what we should look at for what we should believe about our situation.
Do not get bogged down or depressed about the visual but seek the spiritual answer. God’s Word will always show us that our breakthrough is coming, we just have to use our faith and believe. We have to keep believing, keep using our faith and know the Truth will set us free every time! Real Life Real Scripture #11: Expectations
By · CommentsThis is a post about having the right expectations when we are going to attend church or hear the Word being preached. We have to have an attitude of excitement and expectation when we are going to hear the Word. We cannot go to church with an attitude of attending church just to fill a seat. We have to go to church with the purpose that we are going to receive wisdom and gain Godly revelation from what we hear. We need to have the right attitude when going to church and expect God to move every time we attend a service. *Please note the video blog is at the end of this post*
Is your attitude like this when you get ready to go to Church?
Or is your attitude like this when you get ready to attend Church?
Come to church expecting to receive revelation, be ready to take notes

Real Life Real Scripture # 10: Be Willing!
By · CommentsThis is a video post about being willing to do whatever God asks us to do to accomplish his plan. Many times God will call and we do not really acknowledge that God has called us or asked us to do something. The video and post will help explain what we should do when God calls and encourages everyone to have a willing and obedient heart. *Note: video at bottom of post* Scripture Reference: Isaiah 1:19
When God calls upon us are we prone to hide ?
Do we just ignore God’s call when he decides to ring us up??
Shouldn’t our reaction be like this when God calls upon us??

By · CommentsI decided to post my story about how I recieved my salvation in the hopes that it would inspire people to seek out a closer relationship with Christ or find Christ for the first time. If the story touches your heart, leave a comment. I love to hear how anything I post speaks to the heart of someone.
Feel free to comment and share your own personal salvation story as well. Would be awesome to read more testimonies about how different people recieved Jesus for the first time. This same story is posted in my latest book , Devotionals for Living Free, which can be found on www.amazon.com.

My Salvation Story
Growing up my parents made sure that I was in church every Sunday. No matter rain or shine, my two brothers and I had to go to the service. My dad over the years went from being a deacon to being member of the choir. It was not hard to pick out my dad in the choir we were the only African American family in a predominantly white church. My dad has a loud singing voice, is 6’3 in height and easy to notice. The church was small in member size maybe 100 people. This was the normal size for a church in the town I grew up in. the town I grew up in was aptly named Niceville. It was a small town inFloridaand most people ask, “Is everyone nice there?” I would have to say that most people have good southern hospitality there. I had a good time growing up there.
Sitting in church every Sunday the pastor would start to preach and about two minutes into the sermon, I would be lost. I got to doodling on the church program a lot because I did not understand what the pastor was talking about. I had been baptized and my parents figured I was saved but I had never really decided. I did not even know who Jesus was as the pastor delivered his sermon. I did have a good idea that God existed somewhere up above. I would pray sometime and just hope that God would hear my prayer. The older I grew, the more I would try to avoid going to church. I would make up all sorts of excuses why not to go. Every now and then, I would have a conversation with God while doing my chores, complaining about certain things and wondering why my life is not going as good as this person or that person. I went through all my teenage years but never sat down and truly accepted Jesus.
Eventually I went to college at 17 because my birthday comes late in the year. I was finally free, no more chores and no more sitting through church. I was finally able to strike out on my own and do what I wanted. From the age of 17 until the age of 30, I never went to church, other than holidays. Occasionally, I would still have my conversations or complaining sessions with God. Over the years at different times, I would fall into deep depression. I would say, “If God is supposed to be good and life is supposed to be good, how come mine is not very good?” I would spend hours analyzing all the bad events in my life and try to figure out where I went wrong. All my friends were having success and my brothers as well and I could not do any better it seemed.
During the 30th year of my life while living in Atlanta, Ga., I met a friend who would help me change my life. I was out buying a sub sandwich for lunch and I saw a beautiful woman outside. After paying for my sandwich, I went up and introduced myself to her. We exchanged names and started having a conversation. Through the conversation, I realized she was a Christian woman and had been saved for a number of years. I found myself fascinated by her boldness for the things of God. I got up the courage to ask her for her number, thinking to myself, such a beautiful woman. She definitely has something different about her. She gave it to me and said I should come to church with her sometime. Little did I know she would help me change my life two weeks later.
Two weeks later, laying on my bed listening to some dreary R&B music, the depression reached its limit. I was so down, I just cried out “okay God I can’t do this anymore, tell me what to do, there has to be more to this life than what I am doing, I need an answer, please tell me!” The room was silent and out of the silence, I could hear a clear audible voice say, “Go to church.” I know I must be hearing things but I sat there a few minutes and then heard it again “Go to church.” I said, “Okay I am going to go,” but being in Atlanta, GA.I had no idea what church to go to since I had not been in years. Then I remembered the woman I had met a couple of weeks ago. I picked up the phone and called her. After exchanging greetings, I said, “You know what I want to go to church, can I go with you?” She said, “Yes, we can go on Sunday, we will go Sunday morning,” and I said, “Great cannot wait to go, see you then!” and hung up the phone.
Sunday came, I met her at her apartment, and we rode together. We arrived at the church and sat down, waiting for the service to start. I did not anticipate what happened next. The pastor of the church started to speak and this time the words he spoke made sense. The pastor was sharing the Word of God and something happened in my heart. I felt every word and the more I heard, the more I wanted to hear. The more I heard the more I got a warm feeling inside. I had a feeling that I had never felt sitting in church, I was not doodling anymore, I was writing every word and on the edge of my seat. I felt so much joy in my heart as the pastor continued to speak and then felt some sadness as well because I had missed this feeling all these years.
I was finally ready to know Jesus and know what He was all about. When the pastor gave the opportunity for an altar call. When the pastor said, “Anyone who wants to know Jesus and be saved comes forward,” I looked at my friend and said, “Can I go down there?” She said, “Sure go on down there.” I started to walk down toward the altar. Each step I took seemed like it took 20 minutes. I made the long walk down to the altar. I made it there and kneeled and said “Yes Jesus I want to know you, I want to be saved!” From that point forward, I have been different. A change has come to me in my heart. I went from not wanting to know God to being on fire for Him. I went from not knowing Jesus to knowing Him as my Savior.
